reasons and beliefs :)

Splendid work yaar, never expected my reply to be dissected by this precision of a surgeon.

Before trying to pursue the matter further, I‘ll say m not professing the case of crooks or quacks or charlatans. They in fact even do not deserve mention in the matter at hand

Y do we believe in saints.. the answer is we r fools or more appropriately we want to be fooled.  

Doesn’t this mean we are fools if we BLINDLY follow a saint? I would still say that one can blindly follow his Guru without questioning every action. But in the last comment I forgot to mention that finding the right saint/Guru to follow is a Herculean task in its own right.

Don’t know what u infer by the term religion or if u consider it to be separated from every other action but to me religion is virtuosity in every action of our existence.

U say u wouldn’t reason whether u shd brush ur teeth but would definitely reason in matters of religion. Y biased in favor of religion. What does the word religion lead u to (genuine query and not sarcasm J)

 isn’t it inappropriate to not reason the trifles and try to reason religion .

Would it be very wrong to say that “he or she brushes his/her teeth religiously “.

If still u say that religion according to u is something entirely different then I would like to understand the same. If we are on the same boat, I hope the reason y I wrote 

that   wouldnt have survived this long if we questioned our parents when they first fed us or clothed us whn we couldnt make sense of its utility makes sufficient sense.

Something that strengthens my take is the fact that in so many years of being, there were numerous instances where my understanding and my reasons to any incident/subject/want diverged from those of my parents. Blindly Following my parents (foregoing my reasons) has never led me to trouble. And now I understand their reasoning. The same is the relation between a disciple and a guru. The guru having tread the same path and matured on it, just tries to reduce the obstacles the disciple might bump into.

I never raised a doubt on your learning of Buddha or Vivekananda. Knowing u for some time, and even otherwise I intended to say that u have done your hard work in coming to the conclusion that these men are holy and now u can bet without an iota of doubt that they haven’t ever erred. It is this strong conviction of yours ( it is not possible for you or me to know every minute detail of their lives ) based on your research/analyses that reiterated my belief that once u trust someone , u can blindly follow his dictates.( surely without trying to find reason) ( had u tried to reason when u wrote Well, I bet you, if you ever find something erroneous about them, please do tell me.... u wouldn’t have written the statement at all) .

And u did not demean anybody. And where have I said that u claim to be the most intelligent. (it is  ur interpretation of what I wrote )

It wasn’t intended at you but was a generic statement. Link it to the crooks who claim to be saints and their followers.  That day during the conversation, when all of us were claiming the milk that was siphoned off to be some trickery (or scientific phenomenon), the person who had narrated the incident was just smiling, not contesting his claims bcoz he had realized that we fools wouldn’t believe him even if he tried his hardest? He had seen it happen and did not require our approval to hold his belief. We could not understand and comprehend that happening and hence mocked it away .That is why I said we find it it is hard to acknowledge that there do exist those who know/understand more than we do.

The application of the rational mind to search for the truth and the learning and knowledge gained in the process is little compared with that of which we are ignorant.

If there were a means to unlearn all that we have learnt irrationally ( an example – the truth that we will all die someday , could we have learnt this truth in a rational manner?? U would say by seeing other people die we can conclude that we will die , but is it an apt reason) if we could unlearn the fact that death is a surety would religion have been founded in the first place.

All this might appear out of context to u, but I somehow believe it to be  inextricably joint.

Buddha, Jesus found truth by themselves, didn't they?

Agreed . But what about Krishna’s colloquy given to Arjuna – The Gita ??

Buddha questioned his charioteer about old age, death and then he developed distaste for this life and finally became a monk (again arising from rationality and faculty of cognition)

I have negligible knowledge of the works and life  of Buddha. Yet , I would want to know answers to these questions ? Were there monks before Buddha and was He aware of them.  If yes, then he only followed a path (even that must have been tremendously arduous).  If no, I would like to understand the rational behind y he chose to live as a hermit, why he believed that he would find the truth/sanctity he desired by leading life as a monk.    

And to your example I agree completely.
